THE BATTLE TO BEAT MALARIA

Producer & Cinematographer

Producer and cinematographer for an international biomedical documentary The Battle to Beat Malaria follows the quest to create a new vaccine to fight one of humanity’s oldest and deadliest diseases. Bringing viewers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the University of Oxford research team that spearheaded the new R21 vaccine, the film offers an intimate look at the scientists, doctors, healthcare workers, and trial participants racing to save millions.

A 1 hr programme for PBS NOVA (9 pm primetime slot), Arte in France and Germany & BBC in the UK, plus international sales under BBC Studios. My role as cinematographer involved filming across four continents – East Africa, India, the USA and the UK, casting contributors including child trial participants, and gaining sensitive access to hospital wards & medical institutions, as well as extensive scientific research and editorial input throughout the scripting process.

Under Executive Producer Archie Baron (Wingspan Productions) in association with HHMI Tangled Bank Studios.

RIVER COTTAGE REUNITED

Producer & Additional Camera on the reboot of the much-loved series ‘River Cottage’ with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall – bringing to the forefront the UK’s most pressing issues around sustainability and environmental threats post-pandemic.

Working across 4x 1 hr episodes for Channel 4, under Series Producer Michelle Crowley and Exec Producer Andrew Palmer – my role involved working closely with the SP to develop the editorial. In particular, researching stories around sustainability and environmental issues such as river pollution, off-shore mussel farming and deer overpopulation. I sourced all of the contributors and locations for the 4 episodes.

In addition, I supported the Director Richard Hill as Additional Camera during the 9-week shoot, filming underwater and on fishing boats. Shooting on a Sony F55 and Ronin gimbal (A73) capturing GVs and sync.

BRITAIN BY BEACH

Assistant Producer on the Channel 4 presenter-led history series ‘Britain by Beach’ with Anita Rani, working across 2x 1 hour episodes to deliver a fast turnaround series in a prime time slot – 8pm Saturday.

Working under Series Producer Steven Clarke and Exec Producer Richard Klein – my role involved sourcing contributors such as academics, historians and local experts, as well as editorial input and storyline development. I was also heavily involved with securing locations (Devon & Wales) and processing permissions for the two week shoot.

I was 2nd camera on location (Sony A7s II, FS7), supporting the crew throughout the shoot and briefing the presenter, Anita Rani, daily on the editorial and script changes.
